After five years growing under Yayasan Emmanuel (YE), we established an independent organization and started running on our own. YE Water Program became Yayasan Tirta Lestari (with WatSan Action, our U.S. based counterpart), and founded our Board of Management. We also changed offices at the start of the year (with help from SantaFe movers), got a new vehicle (kindly donated by American Women’s Association), as well as re-structured our programs and created a new website for our organization. Thanks to financial sponsorship from Sika, our programs continued to develop. We were able to start constructing latrines with Bintaro Lama, celebrate Earth Day with Tanjung Priok and much more. Moreover, each of our Program Officers concurrently trained groups of Kadres (volunteer community liaisons) to participate and work with their families and neighbors to make living condition improvements.
